MACpool Karaoke (where MAC stands for Más Allá de la Ciencia) is a vibrant and original spin-off of the TV show Más Allá de la Ciencia (Beyond Science), combining science, entertainment, and community in an unforgettable way.

Inspired by James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke, Yessica Herrera created this live show where she invites participants from all backgrounds—scientists, production crew, and administrative staff from the original series—to join in a musical journey from the seats of a bright yellow mini convertible. In playful costumes, they chat about their work, share insights on scientific topics, and (of course) sing their favorite songs!!

This initiative leveraged TeleUV’s full social media reach. It was broadcasted live on the Tele UV Facebook fan page in collaboration with all university channels like Luzio UV, Radio UV, and Comunicación UV.

The project was funded through external sponsorships from local businesses such as Tienda UV, Cornies, Taller Magenta, and Café Moretto.

The live show also introduced the MACpool Karaoke Awards with fun categories like Best Costume, Best Attitude, Best Fan, and Show Revelation, engaging fans and viewers in dynamic ways. The marketing strategy used social media to reach younger audiences, and demonstrated the power of inclusive, community-driven science communication.
